Slanted Studios partnered with the NEW YORK CITY BALLET to create an animated promotional video for their iconic production of ROMEO & JULIET. Drawing inspiration from the ballet’s Set and Costume Designer, PER KIRKEBY I created a series of thickly painted, gestural frames depicting the star-crossed lovers' most memorable moments.
The paint strokes and splashes of color do their own dance, capturing the tale’s themes of youthful optimism and betrayal. Along with designing for the animated promo, I also created art for the official poster. To see my work illuminated around the Lincoln Center complex, on bus stop shelters, and on postcards placed at almost every entrance was an amazing experience.
